2020 Year In Review

As 2020 draws to a close and we reflect on the last 12 months, the team at Greenland Australia would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.

Project Milestones

Park Sydney, Erskineville
In the biggest news of the year, 2020 saw the completion of Stage 1 of one of Sydney’s largest urban renewal projects, Park Sydney in Erskineville. Incorporating 330 apartments across two eight-storey buildings, ‘Botany’ and ‘Cascade’, as well as 5,000sqm of retail, Park Sydney’s first stage launch was an exciting achievement.
To mark the grand opening, Greenland Australia’s Managing Director, Sherwood Luo, was joined by the director of our joint venture partners, GH Australia, Roger Luo, at an official ribbon-cutting ceremony conducted by The Right Honourable Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore.
The event officially welcomed our Botany and Cascade residents to their new homes and launched our new retail hub, Park Sydney Village, to the local community.

Greenland Centre, Sydney CBD
In early September, our Greenland Centre Sydney project defined its place in the CBD skyline following a topping out ceremony, 67 storeys (or 235 metres) above street level!
We welcomed the Lord Mayor of Sydney, Clover Moore, to our event, along with project builders Probuild, project architects BVN, and a selection of other stakeholders, with the COVID-19-compliant ceremony live streamed to a number of locations around the world.
Greenland Centre Sydney also launched its $35 million King Penthouse this year, offering unparalleled vistas from one of the city’s tallest residential buildings. The grand four-bedroom, 674sqm residence, created by David Selden Design, includes a ‘sky garden’ complete with spa, outdoor kitchen and lush landscaping, as well as a circular double-height cellar, a nine-metre-long reflecting pond, and a chef’s kitchen featuring an island bench.

nbh at Lachlan’s Line
Meanwhile, our nbh at Lachlan’s Line project in Macquarie Park saw its final group of residents move in at the beginning of 2020. This new urban community has continued to flourish throughout the year, with our Lachlan’s Square Village retail precinct welcoming a range of retailers, while the City of Ryde Council’s community centre also opened its doors.

Omnia, Potts Point
Finally, our award-winning Omnia project in Potts Point celebrated the sale of its last remaining penthouse, ‘The Noble’, earlier this year. Combining elegant and harmonious Hamptons-style living with spectacular views of the Sydney skyline, this stunning residence is now the property of another valued Greenland Australia purchaser.

Retail
Greenland Australia has for a long time been committed to including quality retail offerings within its developments, and 2020 confirmed this fact once again.
The opening of our Park Sydney Village precinct in November, which incorporates a new ‘premium’ style of Woolworths Metro supermarket, was a clear indicator of our vision. This on-site supermarket will service the Park Sydney population and the wider Erskineville community with convenience shopping and fresh food options, while it also includes a curry bar, freshly-made pizzas and an in-house bakery operated by much-loved social enterprise, The Bread & Butter Project.
Over at Lachlan’s Square Village, anchor tenant Coles opened a 2,736sqm supermarket in September, meeting the fresh food and grocery needs of nbh residents and the wider Macquarie Park community. Then, just in time for Christmas, six new speciality stores also opened, including lifestyle and grooming outlets, Ocean Nails & Beauty and Totally Male Barbershop, as well as a selection of food and beverage operators – Saigon Summer (Vietnamese street food), Shoga Japanese (modern sushi bar), Chicken V (Korean fried chicken and tap beer) and Hey Juice (fresh juices, milk tea and snacks).
Meanwhile, our Leichhardt Green community has launched five new retailer shops to the market at the end of this year. Apart from providing our residents and the local community easy convenience for their retail needs, these retailers will also make a strong contribution to the local area, as Leichhardt Green cements its place as one of the inner west’s most enticing addresses.
In addition, Omnia welcomed a myriad of tenants to its ground floor retail podium this year. Following the opening of Woolworths Metro in late 2019, Omnia now stands on the retail pillars of two fast good giants, as well as other offerings such as Royal Bakery, Cacao Café and a medical centre.
