Sydney, 25 September 2019 – Greenland Australia, and their joint venture partner, GH Australia, have confirmed Woolworths Metro will be the anchor tenant in Stage 1 of Greenland Golden Horse’s mixed-use residential development ‘Park Sydney’, in Sydney’s trendy inner-west suburb of Erskineville.
Woolworths Metro will form part of the Stage 1 retail centre, which will occupy the ground level of Park Sydney’s ‘Cascade’ building, due for completion in mid to late-2020, at which time the new Woolworths Metro is expected to commence trading.
The retail centre will also feature a childcare facility plus food, beverage and lifestyle retail, with approximately 70 basement parking spaces offering 90 minutes free parking and direct access to the centre via travellator.
Greenland Australia’s Managing Director, Sherwood Luo, said the Woolworths Metro is ideal for delivering the vibrant retail mix required for Park Sydney.
“Park Sydney will be a unique integrated community with Stage 1 including 330 apartments and the Woolworths Metro that will cater perfectly to its residents and those in the surrounding area,” he explained.
“The Woolworths Metro will introduce everyday shopping convenience in a smaller format market style that will appeal to all segments of the community, including CBD workers looking for food they can either eat now, on the go, or later, as well as top-ups and emergency shops for families and residents.”
Woolworths Metro General Manager, Justin Nolan said, “We know customers are increasingly looking for conveniently located stores with healthier options and food choices that are relevant to them. Our Woolworths Metro stores are designed to meet these needs.
“We are delighted to be part of the Park Sydney development in Erskineville and look forward to welcoming customers into Woolworths Metro Park Sydney when it opens in mid to late-2020.”
Park Sydney Village will ultimately offer in the order of 10,000sqm of retail amenity, including a 4,000sqm full-range supermarket as part of a future stage, 1,000sqm of specialty shops, multiple lifestyle and food, beverage and dining experiences, with Stage 1 including 1,650sqm of convenience retail, as well as a childcare and medical centre.
The site will also offer secure underground customer parking in both Stage 1 and 2 and an alfresco outdoor dining space that will overlook the adjacent 7,450sqm parkland.
Park Sydney Village will also provide everyday shopping experiences to an existing 26,000 resident population in the immediate vicinity and will serve more than 35,000 residents in the main trade area by 2026.
“The Woolworths Metro will complement the food and beverage offerings opposite Park Sydney’s McPherson Park and the future stage full-line supermarket. These retail outlets will help make Park Sydney a lifestyle destination,” added Mr Luo.
“We are also very aware that in order to deliver the inclusive and engaging community we are focused on achieving at Park Sydney, we need to reflect the unique character of Erskineville in our retail offering.
“Our vision is to deliver a lifestyle precinct that has a strong local heart, a place for locals to interact with each other and celebrate the diversity, creativity and individuality that currently defines the area. This includes quirky retail that speaks to the local community, including local artists and creatives. We want a rich and layered retail offering.”
Greenland Golden Horse is also looking forward to announcing the operator of the childcare centre within Stage 1 soon.
Encompassing 6.9 hectares, Park Sydney’s masterplanned residential community will be one of the largest urban renewal projects in Sydney with each of the buildings uniquely crafted through a competition process that delivers high quality design in amongst extensive open space and retail amenity.
