Park Sydney sponsors South Sydney District Rugby League Referees Association

Any parents or other spectators at junior rugby league matches in South Sydney, Maroubra and surrounding areas this footy season might notice something different with match official uniforms. The Greenland Australia and GH Australia joint venture project of Park Sydney, Erskineville, has become major sponsor of the South Sydney District Rugby League Referees Association.
Managing Director Sherwood Luo said that Greenland recognises rugby league is the most popular winter sport played in and around Erskineville. “With over 250 games played across the district on weekends, and a record 15 first time referees starting in 2016, we are excited to lend our support to the Association. Their hard work and dedication to the sport brings joy and fitness to so many youngsters.
“The hallowed ground of Erskineville Oval, where Souths Juniors practice to this day, is just across the road from our Park Sydney site. Knowing this, it seemed obvious that we should get on board and help the referees and touch judges who volunteer their time to help others. The Association’s professional development program also does great work.”

A sporting association sponsorship of this kind is a first for both property developers. Greenland’s own workforce don’t play rugby league, but they do run around on a soccer field at Moore Park occasionally and have also been spotted playing badminton at Sydney University.
The concept plan DA for Park Sydney was approved by the City of Sydney in March 2017. The detailed design DA for Stage 1 of the project, covering the ‘Banksia’ and ‘Cascade’ buildings on the north-east corner of the site, will be lodged with Council and go on public display this month.
The Park Sydney display suite on the corner of Mitchell Road and Maddox Street, Erskineville, is now open 11am to 5pm daily.
