Greenland signs contract with Probuild to complete the iconic Greenland Centre Sydney

1 December 2016

Greenland Australia and tier-one construction company Probuild yesterday signed a design and construction contract to complete phase two of the Greenland Centre Sydney, within the allocated project budget. The 235-metre residential building at 115-119 Bathurst Street will be the tallest in Sydney, feature 479 apartments and include a 2,000 square metre Creative Hub leased for 99-years to the City of Sydney.

Following the contract signing in Sydney on Wednesday, the companies will start work immediately to ensure they will complete the landmark building on time and to the required high standard. The Managing Director of Greenland Australia, Sherwood Luo, said that the construction program is now set to accelerate as planned.

“Probuild has several high profile projects across Victoria, NSW, Queensland and WA, including The Towers and Ritz Carlton Hotel at Elizabeth Quay in Perth. They are a very capable company, with solid experience in high-rise, and will be a good fit with ours,” said Mr Luo.

“Greenland Australia is very pleased to partner with Probuild to deliver the Greenland Centre Sydney project. We will work collaboratively to solve the unique design and interface challenges that come with a build of this size. Most importantly, we have a shared vision of the program timetable and will deliver Sydney CBD’s tallest and most prestigious apartment tower together.”

The Managing Director of Probuild NSW, Arthur Williams, said, “Probuild is pleased to have reached agreement with Greenland Australia following productive and collaborative discussions. Construction will commence almost immediately and overlap with the demolition work currently being completed by Delta Group. We expect full site possession by 2017.”

“This build will add to Probuild’s growing number of high-rise projects across Australia and provides an invaluable opportunity for us to expand our operations in NSW. Our staff will be co-located with the Greenland Australia team, and robust systems will be put in place to ensure the critical path to success. We know the importance of this landmark project, and will mobilise additional resources from Melbourne to deliver Greenland Australia’s ‘Diamond in the Sky’.”

The construction program agreed with Probuild will see practical completion of the Greenland Centre reached by the sunset date.

Property settlements have started for Greenland Australia’s first completed residential development, Lucent at North Sydney. The 211 luxury apartment building including a gym, infinity-edged lap pool overlooking the harbour, and landscaped garden for residents to enjoy was completed months earlier than planned.

The first purchasers in the sold-out building are expected to move in or begin leasing their properties in the next week or two. Mother of two Karen Scrimes bought a three-bedroom apartment in Lucent and is a self-described ‘downsizer.’ Karen has not lived in an apartment with her kids before, but is excited about the move.

“I first considered another developer’s building in Glebe, but I’m very glad a friend of mine told me to take a closer look at Lucent. When I did check out Lucent it was so much nicer, offered two car spaces instead of one and came with a much better view.

“Lucent came out on top for me. I made the right choice. The building presents really well, is a quality build and also gives me value for money. I look forward to meeting more of my new neighbours and discovering what the area has to offer,” said Ms Scrimes.

Lucent at 225 Pacific Highway, North Sydney, is close to some of Sydney’s finest cafes, bars, restaurants, shops, parklands and schools. Just minutes from transport, the apartments are also near the village-like neighbourhoods of Lavender Bay, Kirribilli and McMahon’s Point.

Greenland Australia Managing Director Sherwood Luo said, “Greenland welcomes some of the first residents who will call Lucent their new home, and is equally delighted with the quality of work by Richard Crookes Constructions.

“The Lucent settlements now underway mark a new chapter for our company. Residents here today are the first of thousands more Greenland Australia purchasers over coming years. We are providing our purchasers with after sales attention, and on onsite property management service, and will continue to make the transition from depositor to owner as easy as possible.”

Greenland Australia is now providing families, couples, singles and investors with their dream home or investment. The company is delivering on the Greenland Group promise of ‘Creating a better life.’
