Construction Begins at Park Sydney, Erskineville

Greenland Australia and its joint venture partner GH Australia plan to transform the 6.9-hectare light industrial site between Ashmore Street and Coulson Street in Erskineville, in Sydney’s inner south, into a beautiful new mixed-use development that features modern design.

It is proposed to have nine development blocks with buildings ranging in height from two to eight storeys, a 7,446-square metre public park (McPherson Park), and a major 10,000-square metre shopping centre including a full-range supermarket, specialty shops, cafes and restaurants. There will also be a wide shared walkway along the full length of the site linking Ashmore Street with Coulson Street (Kooka Walk), new streets and major stormwater infrastructure, communal play areas and 60 – 90 childcare spaces.

The Masterplan Development Application (DA) approved on 3 March 2017 may see around 1400 apartments built over five-stages. Stage 1 sales launched in early June 2017 and includes two buildings, Botany and Cascade, in the north-east corner of the site and is currently selling 1, 2 and 3-bedroom residences. In February 2017, a design competition winning scheme by WMK Architects was chosen by a panel of architects and further developed.

The construction DA for the stage 1 buildings, was approved by the City of Sydney in February 2018 and GGH has recently appointed Richard Crookes Construction as the delivery partner with construction commencing in May 2018.

The Park Sydney project team ran the stage 2 design competition in October/November 2017 for buildings A and D located in the north-west corner of the site. Turner architects were selected as the winning architect for building A, and Andrew Burns architects were selected as the winning architect for building D.
